The 5th Annual Hico Championship Steak Cookoff will have two categories of competitors: professional chefs and "backyard experts." In addition, there will be a Hor D’Hoeuvre (Appetizer) competition. If you are interested in the Hor D’Hoeuvre competition, please call (254) 485-4983 to make inquiries. The professional chef category is open to all professional chefs who have a restaurant. There will be one winner for this category. The Professional Chefs will be judged by some of the finest culinary experts in this part of the country. The Backyard Chef category will be awarded a cash prize for First, Second and Third Place. The "backyard experts" group will be judged by a celebrity judge panel! Regardless of which category one falls into, there will be cash prizes and trophies given to the top chefs of the event. The entry fee is $200 per team (if you sign up by April 1st) and includes the free tickets and aprons depending on how many steaks you cook.
