Stan Bundy Memorial

Former Hico Mayor Stan Bundy passed away Sat­urday, Sept. 3, in Bande­ra where he has lived for a number of years. He was 74. Family messages said Bundy died peace­fully in his sleep. Bundy was mayor of Hico from 2000 to 2005. His was the original idea for the Texas Steak Cookoff in 2003, which grew to be­come Hico’s largest an­nual citywide event each May. He fonned the first Cookoff committee to organize the event with less than a half dozen volunteers and a tiny budget. While mayor, Bundy successfully pushed for the creation of a full time paid city administrator post for the first time in 2005.

The family has asked that any charitable donations be made to the Texas Steak Cookoff in memory of Stan Bundy
